Tamper-Evident Shrink Band Film for Medicine & Supplement Bottles

What a tamper-evident band does, and where our film fits

A tamper-evident band is a short tube of shrink film that sits over the closure of a medicine or supplement bottle. Heat shrinks it tight against the cap and neck; a perforation line lets the consumer tear it to open, and once torn it cannot be reseated — that visible break is the tamper evidence. We are the film manufacturer in this chain: we supply the PET/PETG or CPET rollstock, and band converters or in-house packaging lines seam, perforate, and apply the finished bands. We do not produce finished printed bands.

Buy finished bands, or buy film to run your own?

This routes two different buyers. If you need small quantities of finished, printed bands, a local band converter is the right partner — they cut and apply for you. If you are a band converter, a contract packager, or a pharma/supplement line forming and applying bands in-house at volume, you buy the film directly from us by the roll. Our page is written for that second buyer: which film grade to specify, and how to size it to the cap.

How to size band film to the cap (layflat width)

Band film is supplied at a layflat width sized to the closure it must grip. As a starting geometry, the layflat width of a formed tube ≈ π × cap outer diameter ÷ 2, then adjusted for a snug pre-shrink fit and the band's grip under the cap lip. The table below is illustrative geometry — not a fixed data claim — to help a converter spec the film; confirm exact width against your closure and application equipment.

Which film grade for a clean, tamper-proof band

The band's job depends on two things: enough transverse shrink to lock under the cap lip, and low machine-direction shrink so the band does not ride up, shorten, or distort the perforation. Our Clear PETG (MD ≤3.0%) holds the band height and gives clean perforation tearing with high clarity. Where the pharma or supplement pack must stay recyclable in the PET stream, CPET (TD 74±2%, MD ≤5.0%, RIC 1) lets the band be recycled with the bottle. White PETG is available where the band should be opaque.

How we supply band-grade film

We manufacture Clear PETG, CPET, and White PETG shrink film on 3 production lines, slit to the layflat width your band calls for (roll widths 200–2000 mm, 30–60 μm gauges). Standard orders start at 1 ton (MOQ 1–3 tons), and every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis. The film accepts gravure, flexo, and UV inkjet ink directly with no corona pre-treatment, so bands can be printed with lot codes or branding.
